        Why Imported Supplements are Overrated

        Why Imported Supplements are Overrated

The ‘Imported is better’ thinking is widespread among Indian fitness enthusiasts. Most, if given a choice, would opt for a lesser-known international brand over well-established domestic name.

Today, in this blog, we’re going to tell you why imported supplements are overrated; not offering value-for-money, or even authenticity, in a highly unregulated supplement market.

        Outrageously Overpriced

Imported Supplements are outrageously overpriced in India. A whey protein supplement that’s around $50 (₹3500) in the US will sell for more than ₹ 5,000 in India, because of the heavy import duty levied on foreign products and the multiple middlemen who are in it for commission.

Remember this: the extra money you pay for imported products isn’t for superior quality, but for excessive import duties and middle-men commissions. There many reputed Indian brands out in the market, offering the same quality as imported products but at a much lesser price.

        Many Counterfeits Available

The supplement market is infiltrated with counterfeit products and knock-offs of originals. Since there’s a lot of money to be made in the fitness supplement market, we often see people selling counterfeits of imported supplements, as a way of making easy cash.

Although there are a number ways to ensure that your product is genuine – look for the importer’s seal, quality seal, verify with manufacturer’s website – most buyers are ignorant about them and are lead to believe they’re getting a good quality supplement simply because its imported.

        Unchecked Adulteration

You’d be surprised to know that most imported fitness products are blended and branded right here in India The ingredients are imported and then mixed together at local factories. This helps cut down on import fee. But it also leads to adulteration.
